Deck Inspection and Repairs

Deck repair, sealing and staining
Your decks and fences are a significant asset to you home and you will always want them not only looking great but safe and functional. Decks should be inspected on an annual basis to ensure that the building material and support system is still operating to the best of its ability. Fences should be checked to ensure that the posts are still set and gates are in good working order. Any damages that might have occurred should be repaired as soon as possible to avoid further damage to  the surface materials and infrastructure.

Deterioration

No deck is immune to the forces of nature or the effects of the elements.  Damage and deterioration is inevitable.  Some speciecs of wood have a lower resistance to rot than others as well.  Any of these these factorreps can result in the deterioration to the substructure or decking of your outdoor deck.   As this occures it is recommended that any failing boards are If this happens, it’s recommended that you address it straight away with a professional to aviod potential injury. If one part of your deck is faulty or not functioning properly, it can lead to a safety hazard amongst the deck as a whole.

Damage

If damage has been caused to your deck either through weathering, elemental, or other exterior factors, we’re able to assist in repairing such damages. From broken panels to pests overruling parts of the deck, we have the tools and techniques to adequately dispose of exterior factors that are overcoming your deck. For less serious damages such as sunlight discoloration, we can repair this through sanding and re-staining the area where needed. Other aesthetic damages are usually repairable with the same methods unless otherwise stated. More intensive resources and tools will need to be used to extract interior damage caused to the infrastructure of the deck and its building materials.

Hinge & Frame Inspection

We recommend our clients to have their decks inspected at least once a year. This is to ensure that it continues to perform up to safety standards. During inspection, we’ll likely look at a lot of factors that usually include its appearance, sturdiness, and its hinges and frame standing. Since the materials used to build the deck are held together with metal hinges, it’s vital that these remain securely in place over time to avoid loosening pieces of infrastructure or causing a dip in the frame. If the frame itself has begun to dip or droop, it could also mean that the building materials are not properly being held up with adequate weight balance. In any case, you can trust that if there’s an issue with your deck – we’ll find the solution.

Code Standard

As with all of our projects, we’re routinely setting our services up to a code standard. This code standard is agreed upon with local authorities and ensures the building safety of those involved. For decks, we follow the standards set out by local authorities that help regulate deck safety. If we find that a deck has been improperly built or is potentially dangerous, we will be obligated to take further action until it is up to code.
